We’re looking for a sharp and ambitious individual to join our team and help us continue innovating and developing the best outdoor adventure sandals in the world. This position could be ideal for someone who may be relatively new to the field but who is ready to get their hands dirty and hungry to make a mark in the Outdoor Industry.


Job Description:


As a small manufacturing company, (currently 16 people) the product developer position will be responsible for overseeing a wide variety of development tasks, primarily collaborating with our Product Manager and small creative team to manage the process for creating new products. This position will oversee the full development cycle for our new products, from concept sketches, material sourcing, prototyping, to production implementation and everything in-between.

 

Primary Responsibilities:


-Organize new product creation

-Organize development timelines to hit key deadlines

-Work with (Product Manager & creative team to brainstorm new product concepts and details

-Hit budget/cost goals in estimating labor costs and sourcing materials

-Sketch design mock-ups

-Create design briefs for component suppliers

-Create tech packs for in-house manufacturing

-Develop prototypes for review and testing

-Source materials

-Work with technical experts on component development

-Manage testing metrics and results

-Problem solve development issues on the fly

-Contribute to the overall success of the company


Qualifications:


-Must be passionate about the creation process

-Ability to manage and push forward multiple projects

-Ability to problem solve as part of a small creative team

-Ability to plan and hit budgets and deadlines

-Basic understanding of footwear, or similar (apparel, etc.) manufacturing processes

-Experience or knowledge in sourcing and working with suppliers

-Ability to create product sketches, product briefs, & technical document packages

-Competent in Adobe Illustrator and Indesign

-Competent with spreadsheet software

-Ability to balance multiple input factors in dev process, ie. product testing performance, design aesthetic, material and labor costs, lead-times, deadlines, etc.

-Ability to build prototypes; footwear specific skills are trainable but should have a basic knowledge of sewing, assembly, and craft

-Ideally 1 to 3 years experience with a manufacturing company; preferably in the outdoor, footwear, or apparel industries

-Must be able to have fun and get shit done


-Bonus if you have read Christopher McDougall's 'Born To Run' and/or Yvon Chouinard’s ‘Let My People Go Surfing’


Pay: $18 - $21/hr., DOE

Hours: Full-time, M-F/flexible
