General Summary:

The Field Service Rep’s primary function is to be the brand ambassador for the KEEN brand creating goodwill within retail stores and at select KEEN supported events.  Each Field Service Rep (FSR) will be the eyes, ears, and voice out on the road for the KEEN brand.  They will have the opportunity and resources to share a wealth of information on anything from company values and technical product information, to industry trends and emerging lifestyle ideals, and satisfy fill in needs. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Education:  Coordinate and execute product clinics for staff in specified retail accounts
  • Exposure:  Be the KEEN brand ambassador for specified retail accounts establishing strong relationships and credibility.  Provide team support and expertise during tradeshows and sales meetings.  All other tasks and duties as assigned or whatever it takes to get it done
  • Communication:  Maintain a detailed appointment schedule which will be regularly shared with the Field Service Manager
  • Merchandising:  Distribute and install POS materials within retail locations (i.e. shelves, banners, etc.)
  • Opportunity:  Identify fill-in opportunities and submit weekly reports that chronicle the details of store visits and KEEN events.  Each report will be based on feedback from the following areas:
    • General visit notes (i.e. employees present, inventory levels, shipping issues, POS requests, etc.)
    • Product feedback for both KEEN and competition
    • Sell through information for both KEEN and competition
    • Trends as they relate to POS and merchandising materials
    • In store promotions for both KEEN and competition (i.e. sales contests and GWP)
    • Event details (i.e. shoes sold, estimated attendance, photos, etc.)

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university
  • At least 2 years of work experience post college
  • 2-3 years of experience in retail sales of specialty equipment
  • Experience with retail merchandising and exposure to product training
  • Confident and comfortable with public speaking
  • Strong organizational skills are imperative
  • Ability to disseminate technical information and convey information in layman's terms
  • Capable of adapting to rapidly changing situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively on many different levels within the company as well as to outside agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word and Excel

Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record (No D.U.I.’s and minimal points on license)
  • Desire to enter into the manufacturing aspect of the outdoor industry, in positions of sales, marketing, or product development
  • Live, or be willing to move to geographically desirable location for territory
  • Personal knowledge of the Outdoor/Utility community within the territory (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia) strongly desired
  • Must be willing to be on road and away from home for weeks at a time. Approx. travel 80%
  • Passionate about an outdoor sport; willing to participate in most outdoor activities
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and commitment to sustainable living practices
  • Desire and ability to contribute to and enhance the unique culture, philosophy and core values of KEEN
  • A team player

Physical Requirements: 
  • Extensive driving and flying throughout the year
  • Assisting in trade show booth assembly, lifting objects of various size and weight
