Channel Marketing Manager

Channel Marketing Manager is a pivotal role on Benchmade’s Sales and Marketing Team and Benchmade’s dealer channel partners are the cornerstone of the business.  The role will engage directly with our channel partners and conduct on-site and open market research to ensure information leads to innovative, effective in-store experiences. The Channel Marketing Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Benchmade’s channel marketing strategies and executions, in strong partnership and support of domestic, government and international sales.
Job Responsibilities: 
  • Owns all aspects of Benchmade’s brand representation at physical retail
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive retail marketing strategy 
  • Ensure continuity with all branding for all retail marketing materials and activities
  • Manages implementation and tracking of channel MDF funds
  • Works closely with Sales to concept and execute comprehensive retail marketing programs for key accounts, national accounts and independent retailers
  • Manages a cadence of valuable communications to Benchmade’s channel partners
  • Partners with Sales in establishing greater value for both retailers and consumers for the purpose of increasing sales to hit budgeted annual sales goals
  • Captures, analyzes data and maintains cadence of report outs to Sales, Marketing and greater organization, up to and including Board-level forums
  • Makes recommendations and takes action to optimize channel marketing activities for the purpose of driving sales and brand affinity. 
  • Defines planograms and optimal merchandising practices, based on best practices, experience and data; proposes recommendations to channel partners
  • Works with Marketing to ensure alignment and proper integration of campaigns at retail  
  • Develops and manages sales/product displays and related programs with the Sales Team
  • Works closely with Sales Team,  Marketing Communications and Brand Management to design visual assets and promotional brand collaterals for sales programs, promotions and retail branding
  • Works with supply chain to forecast and manage inventory of all materials relevant to the channel
  • Serves as the Marketing Team’s direct point of contact for all retailers and sales personnel with retail marketing related inquiries  
  • May develop creative briefs for larger projects
  • Creates and maintains archive of exemplary retail branding materials   
  • Assists as needed in the creation and presentations of materials for sales and management meetings
  • Will receive work assignments based on current campaign plans
Education Required:
  • A 4-year degree in Marketing, Business or a related field with a minimum of eight years of work experience, at least five directly in retail marketing. Strong sales or retail experience a plus.  Comparable work experience will also be considered.  MBA a plus.
  • Strong experience managing all aspects of design and production of retail (or otherwise) brand and communication tools
  • Management of retailer relationships for another brand or agency a must
  • Past retail sales or other role inside of retail environment
  • Development and execution of retail signage and display programs
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and experience formulating recommendations that drove business success
  • Creation of plan-o-grams and retail presentation guidelines
  • Leading external and internal team members to execute all aspects of a retail strategy
  • Industry experience and/or passion for core markets a plus (tactical/shooting sports/outdoor recreation)
  • High pressure, professional presentations to management and/or customers  
  • Demonstrated ability in exceptional cross-functional leadership
  • Ability to visualize, develop and articulate project needs
  • Creative vision for retail spaces and solutions 
  • Strong business orientation, analytical aptitude, and computer competencies 
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including negotiations and presentations 
  • Cross functional, collaborative project and vendor management  
  • Strong information seeking skills and drive to make things happen
  • Manage multiple large projects in parallel
  • Strong analytical ability
