Shop Mechanic is responsible for bicycle repair & maintenance on both customer bicycles & rental bicycles. Along with performing shop tasks, they will be in charge of working with apprentices to provide them with bicycle repair training and mentoring. Shop Mechanic will be the lead for rental business as well as assist in general shop work including sales, outreach & customer service.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute in multiple roles including outreach, sales and repairs
  • Engage in regular (monthly) cross department meetings with other facets of bicycle shop
  • Engage in community events promoting rental & tours business
  • Oversee maintenance shop & set priority for work orders
  • Ensure that maintenance shop has necessary items to function efficiently
  • Responsible for maintenance of rental fleet, including rental accessories (helmets, locks, etc.)
  • Schedule rental/tour staff and volunteers
  • Develop, monitor and maintain quality control systems for rental and tour business
  • Inform employees of new policies and procedures and ensure that current policies and procedures are being followed
  • Maintain high level sales ability
  • Maintain warranty policies and procedures for rental fleet
  • Provide exemplary customer service including the handling of customer complaints if/when they arise
  • Manage rental and tour employee training
  • Promote open communication between sales, non-profit and service departments
  • Maintain a fun and positive environment for customers and employees
  • Provide an atmosphere with a high degree of cleanliness and organization throughout the store
  • Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift
  • Education/Experience:
    • Background in bike mechanics
    • Experience in teaching setting
    • Cycling enthusiast - PLUS

  • THUR – SUN (~11AM – 5PM)
  • ~20-24 hrs/wk
