Topo Designs is looking for an Apparel Developer to join our Production team. The primary responsibility will be to coordinate and manage the development and production for select categories of Topo Designs apparel styles. Through the creation of detailed tech pack specifications and exact bill of materials, this position will focus on integrating design, materials and pattern engineering from sample production through final product development. This position will also function as a primary point of contact between manufacturing partners and Topo Designs.

Experience/Education Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferably in product development or engineering
  • 3+ years product experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Google Docs
  • Travel to U.S. and foreign-based factories as needed Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accurate creation of sample tech packs from the Design team product specification packages
  • Collaborate with Design and Production teams to execute the sourcing of new trims, construction and vendors to support new product development
  • Guide the development of products within the FOB and margin targets as outlined by the product briefs and work with the merchandising and sales teams to maintain the projected profit margins through each season
  • Manage and communicate clearly with vendors ensuring that direct and timely information is provided to meet deadlines and deliverables required by the seasonal calendar
  • Manage and work directly with outside partner-based factory product teams
  • Track non-production POs for development trims, swatches, strike-offs, hand looms, samples and materials
  • Oversee timely and up to date revisions to product tech packs
  • Manage, schedule and coordinate fit models and fittings for new products
  • Maintain fit notes and logs to ensure future samples incorporate necessary design and development changes as directed for prototypes and sales samples
  • Proactively troubleshoot issues regarding fit, construction, materials, suppliers, etc.


  • • Manage and track fabric testing specifications and records for seasonal fabric requirements
  • • Supervise the lab dip process and ensure timelines are met
  • • Work with inventory planning to coordinate fabric and trim minimums, following bulk production timelines
  • • Coordinate orders and manage successful completion and delivery of salesman samples
  • • Review size runs, PP and CFM samples and comment in a timely manner
  • • Maintain and store accurate records, communications, BOMs, tech packs and critical product information
