Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Creative Director will lead and drive Altra’s creative design team to produce all consumer promotional materials while also determining and enforcing the brand’s aesthetic. Establish control-related standards and procedures for the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead content creation by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling and inspiring the design team both by example of work ethic and creative vision.
  • Manage the production process, leading and fostering productivity, quality and brand standards; resolving operational problems and identifying work process improvements.
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Brand Manager to manage all outward facing elements to the brand.
  • Work with the Brand Manager to determine production schedules by conferring with designers, copywriting and sales/RD departments; outlining basic presentation concepts and coordinating creative activities.
  • Create and determine the working process with deadlines, presentations and review sessions with creative team.
  • Improves quality results by studying, evaluating and re-designing processes; recommending changes to creative, copy writing and production departments.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining external networks, participating in professional organizations and being up to date in the world of design and creative marketing.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Work closely with outside photographers and videographers to create relevant assets needed for all creative creation.
  • Lead the design process for tradeshows and consumer based events.
  • Lead the print media process including consumer and retailer catalog, print marketing and advertising.

Experience, Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent within related discipline such as Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, Package Design, Interior Design, Advertising, Marketing or Publishing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience working in art direction, graphic design or a related creative field.
  • 4+ years’ experience leading a cross-discipline creative team.
  • Strong understanding of Art Direction. Ability to both produce and direct lifestyle and studio photo shoots.
  • Deep knowledge of Brands and Branding.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience guiding projects from concept to consumer, orchestrating creative direction across multiple channels of communication.
  • Great understanding of marketing and trends, especially in fashion/running/outdoor markets.
  • Experience briefing external freelancers and agencies to supplement internal team needs.
  • Experience developing consumer experiences for retail, pop-up, tradeshow or event.
  • Finger-on-pulse awareness of emerging creative solutions, technologies and visual trends.
  • Demonstrated ability as an individual thinker and collaborative team player.
  • Creativity skills developed during a previous experience as designer, copywriter or art director.
  • Strong understanding of multi-channel marketing strategies.
  • Ability to make decisions in a time-constrained environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills for industry trend and business analysis.
  • 20% travel.
